Did you know that Google sets higher CTR threshhold for broad and phrase matched keywords vs exact match.

So what?

Well, if we can find the Ads which exceed this threshhold, we’ll have found:

  • the ads with highest CTR
  • the keyword(s) they are targetting (which the higher CTR probably means lower bid price for a given position)

So if we’re building a campaign targetting the same market, this can provide us with a model ad for us to emulate.

So the question is – how can we find these ads?

Answer: use the “wildcard” search
